BelDIA PRE® is a rapid test that can be used in a non-clinical setting and that detects the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and / or atherosclerosis. Within 20 minutes, the test will provide information on whether you are predisposed to type 2 diabetes. If the test is positive, you have up to 24 months to change your lifestyle and prevent diabetes mellitus. Contact your doctor to find out more!
BelDIA PRE® - easy screening test
By measuring intact proinsulin, a highly specific laboratory indicator for beta-cell dysfunction, the test may indicate a predisposition to the development of type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes, even several years before changes in blood glucose occur.
The BelDIA PRE test shows within 20 minutes whether the patient has an increased level of proinsulin. The test is functionally similar to a pregnancy test and provides a qualitative result, i. E. the test is either "positive" or "negative". Only about 2 drops of capillary blood (50 μL) are taken for the procedure, which are taken from the tip of the finger, similar to measuring blood glucose.
The test is designed to distinguish elevated values (> 15 pmol / L after feeding) and normal intact proinsulin due to disease. If the result is positive, the patient should consult with the physician and perform further studies (eg, oral glucose tolerance test (GGTT)).
Laboratory tests can determine the exact values of increased intact proinsulin in the blood. Diabetes mellitus can be treated if it is detected at an early stage and lifestyle changes are made.
